Did you know that there is a parent-school organization dedicated to supporting after-school sports, clubs and lunchtime activities at the school? At its heart, Bret Harte Booster Club is all about connecting kids to school through extra- and co-curricular activities. Meeting in the evening on the second Wednesday of the month, parents and administrators work together to sustain and improve an array of excellent programs.
Financial support comes through program fees that help pay for coaches or advisors. eScrip is also a vital means of this financial support. If you have not signed up to do so, I encourage you. It is a simple and easy way to raise much-needed funds. Forms are located at our table. Broncothon is another of our fundraising efforts, which you will hear more about in 2006. Without these fundraisers efforts we would not be able to cover costs such as tournament fees, uniforms, equipment and officials. Additionally, Booster Club has been able to purchase in the past speakers, karaoke machine and canopies for school-wide activities, instruments to rebuild the school's band program, and electrical work to support new stage lighting.
Now, we are always looking for adults who may be interested in coaching after school sports or supervising lunchtime activities. Or, if you are interested in starting an after-school club please let us now. Again, if you want to learn more please plan to join us at our next Booster meeting.
