The Bret Harte Community Club (BHCC) is the school's home/school association. It is our desire to be a support to the school, students and parent community. With a large and enthusiastic group of volunteers, the BHCC is actively involved in organizing and financially supporting various activities and events inside as well as outside the classroom at Bret Harte.
Our financial support of the school is made possible through the generous contributions of parents during our Membership Drive at the start of the school year. Membership forms are also available throughout the year in Student Services.
We would like to encourage all new and returning parents to take an active role in the Community Club. Our Volunteer sign-up sheet lists a wide range of activities for which we need volunteers.
We also encourage you to join us at our monthly Board Meetings.
We also aim to ensure that all parents receive up-to-date information on events and activities going on in school. As a part of this, we have established a database of parent e-mail addresses to enable us to use this medium to give parents an extra source of information. Among other things, membership donations support Honors and Bronco Nights, Back to School Night, 8th Grade Promotion, on campus counseling, and an extensive teacher "wish" list of supplies and equipment. Over the past two years, our support of classroom needs have included the provision of new software for the IBM PC lab, heart rate monitors for the PE Department, assistance towards the refurbishment of the weight room, data-loggers and probes for the Science Department, glass kilns for the Art Department, multi-media presentation equipment for the Math, Language Arts, Technology and Social Studies departments, digital cameras and video cameras for the Journalism and Video Journalism classes, support of new lunch recess clubs, and much more.
