The Bret Harte Staff Appreciation Committee is the group of parents that try to let the Bret Harte Staff know that we think they are great and that we appreciate everything that they do for our kids. We do something monthly for the staff. Some months it may be a treat bag in each of their boxes. Another month it may be a light breakfast. The next month it may be a spread in the staff dining room of cakes, cookies, fudge etc. We often have themes and most of our items are home made. One month we had an Ice Cream Social for the staff.
There are several ways in which to volunteer for this committee. We need a list of bakers to provide items for these monthly events. This is extremely flexible and you will not be called every month. As we typically have a pretty good list here you are not called every month and if a month is bad for you and you are called it is perfectly fine to say you can't and ask them to call next month. You also do not have to make something each time. Store bought goodies are great. We just need individuals to help feed the 50+ each month.
We also need creative and organized monthly chairs for Staff Appreciation. The person chairing for the month is the one who decides the theme and what they would like to do that month – Is it around valentines and you want to just have desserts with candy heart messages about how much we appreciate all they do. Is it a cold fall day and you want to do pies and muffins with a fall leaf theme. You decide, set up the staff dining room and a week before call the bakers on the list to bring items in that morning.
Occasionaly we need volunteers to come and help out on the days we pack a small bag of goodies or someone decides to have an ice cream social.
If you want to help out and can't during regular school hours or want to do so on your own time signing up for a baker is a great way to help out. If you want a bigger level of commitment Staff Appreciation monthly chairs is a fun way to meet the staff, get to know the teachers and meet other parents at Bret Harte.
